PERSONALITY OVERVIEW
Wanda Maximoff is a very dynamic character. She carries doubt and guilt over the mistakes she's made but she has a deep desire to set things right. She is very passionate and tries to do what is right despite what others think. She likes to fight directly and doesn't consider herself the type to give up. Even when she chooses to accept Tony's house arrest, she considered it another option to keep people safe. This is also why her decision to go with Clint appeared sudden. It wasn't sudden, he showed her that there was another way to handle the situation that she wasn't seeing. Clint has talked Wanda out of inaction twice in her life and during both situations it was when she couldn't see another way.
A few of her personality traits and feelings contradict themselves but that's due to Wanda's age. At her current canon point and with some extrapolation, I put her at early twenties which is the time when most people are figuring out who they are. By this point Wanda has been through a lot but she's still deciding who she wants to be. She knows that she can control her own future but doesn't know what direction that future will take. After the experiments and Ultron she wants to be a little bit more careful.
She has a lot of hope and a rare type of innocence that wasn't taken from her. Despite the seriousness of Wanda's working attitude she likes to tease her friends and simple things make her smile. She loves her friends and will be there to support them no matter what. Those she's closest too are Steve and the people she spent most of her time training with.
She plays the guitar to help her think and holds her memories, specifically of her brother and her parents, close to her heart. She has a very caring nature and is able to do a lot due to her devotion to others, first her brother and then the avengers. These are her greatest motivations but can also be the cause for her anger. She gets angry at anyone she considers her enemy and can be ruthless and almost cruel when her heart is broken. Best case of this was with Ultron after her brother was killed. Wanda can be vengeful towards others which implies that she holds grudges as well.
The rest of this section expands on some of the more serious points of her personality and also includes some head canon and explanation. All of the personality traits listed above are of equal importance and relevance but some are more straight forward than others. The below paragraphs are written to clarify and justify some of her personality traits above.
Her powers are feared by the mass populace and she feels helpless against the rising views against her. She blames herself for being unable to save the people that she'd been trying to protect and carries the weight of each death that she considers her fault. This is best shown in the compound when Steve comes to talk to her. She wasn't in trouble or punished and yet she was staying to her room like she was grounded. She is hard on herself and while Steve tries to cheer her up he only half succeeds.
She has a kind heart and wants to help others. Even with her good intentions it takes Wanda some time to open up to others. At first she was only close to Pietro and his death has made it harder for her to open up to others. Despite her difficulty when opening up to others Wanda is easy to read and open with her emotions. It was her intense emotions that got her through the testing and experiments at Hydra and they continue to thrive and define her.
She's idealistic and doubts herself constantly. Without her brother or a guiding force she begins to feel lost and unsure of herself when faced with a difficult situation. Her parents were killed when Wanda was ten and a few years later they were signed up in Hyrda's program which involved years of testing and experimentation. After that came cruel training and the efforts to control her new abilities. Her and her brother were in their late teens when they were with Ultron and a year later Wanda is alone, trying to find a way to use her abilities to help others.
She's courageous and selfless and will put her personal grudges aside if it means working towards the greater good. She doesn't want to hurt people who've done nothing wrong but her world is very black and white thanks to the influences of her brother. She's from a canon point where she's just learning about gray areas.
She's smart and notices parts about people that they sometimes don't mean to give away. She's the one who first pulls her and her brother away from Ultron's crazy plan and seeks to help the Avengers. She's quick to follow how she feels and act on that feeling be it lashing out or closing in on herself. She has the ability to be very empathetic but right now she's very absorbed by her own problems and weaknesses. Clint said it best: she needs to get her head out of her ass.
PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
What skills does your character bring to the situation?:
Wanda doesn't bring that many skills to the table. She does know how to cook and clean and perform basic tasks. Her home doesn't have the best technology so she'll know basic first aid and anything she could learn on the streets as a 10 year old. Most of her skills won't seem like a lot but she's also very intelligent and she'll be able to pick up more during her time in 6i. Since her home country doesn't actually exist, I've based the things she'd have reference knowledge too off of kazakhstan.
Explain how your character would react to the following:
- Discovering that their memories may have been tampered with:
Out of everything else this will bother Wanda the most. She's under gone experiments and while it isn't expanded in the movies it is said that only her and her brother survived them. She's had someone in her head and she's been in peoples heads. It will make her very uncomfortable and a little more closed. She won't be sure who to trust since the logical idea is that it's someone like her who's close and able to fuck with her head. She'll also be reminded of her time going through those experiments. (Which I head canon as being very awful and torture esque.) It'll bring about nightmares, memories of her brother and remind her of those feelings of loneliness that she fights with. This will be very real for Wanda and it will be an internal battle that she'll have to struggle through.
- Having to do physical labor to survive:
Wanda hasn't done any physical labor exactly however she's trained with Steve and others and is a skilled fighter; though she relies mostly on her powers. It will be an awkward adjustment for her but she won't complain. She's had to do what's needed to be done to survive and not all of that is pretty. Since it was her and her brother alone at the age of 10 she's familiar with the idea of getting her hands dirty and working to survive. This case is a little different but it's not wholly unfamiliar to her.
- Having to share resources with others:
Wanda doesn't mind sharing with others. She isn't used to having things that are hers since she lived in a rented place at the avengers headquarters and before that her room was a small cell like place with Hydra. She's happy with what she can get. She will help others but only with things she knows. If she doesn't feel confident in something she's less likely to reach out and help someone. She will go to greater lengths for her friends though from her current canon point she's unsure who those are.
- Being unable to leave the area:
This won't bother her so much with so many of her castmates in game. There is no reason to leave with them there. Even if her castmates weren't in game she wouldn't have much reason to leave because I'm taking her when she was under house arrest. She's currently in the metal state of 'I shouldn't be doing anything anyway so why does it matter where I am?' As the strangeness of 6i continues however Wanda will get frustrated at the thought of being helpless and want to do something to change that which can possibly end with her lashing out at the overseers. Even without her brother Wanda doesn't like people telling others what to do though she can be calmed down so this development will depend on who she interacts with and how those interactions play out.
- Doing without modern conveniences and technology and/or being around tech more advanced than they're used to:
Wanda lived in poverty with her parents and brother. It's implied that they never had a lot and what they had was sometimes taken from oppressors. She won't be too bothered by the lack of technology, she might even be a little glad that there isn't TV or news to watch. She prefers reading or at times strumming on her guitar while she's thinking. These are items seen in her room at the avengers headquarters and while there is a TV she mostly watched the news. Some things will be very difficult for her but Wanda will ask others for help; she knows her own limitations. She's generally relaxed when it comes to her setting.
- Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable:
Wanda's powers are a source of confliction for her. She chose to under go the horrible tests to gain power and to avenge her parents. She and her brother hoped to end their strife and be able to fight back. It didn't work out that and now she's feared by those she's tried to protect. She can't control others fears and it makes her think of herself as dangerous. Losing her powers will be a shock but she'll adjust a lot easier than most since she wasn't born with them and she'll no longer feel like she's a danger to those around her. Her greatest loved one is already lost and she thinks about her brother often. She'll feel misplaced and awkward the way that young people often do but she'll slowly find her way.
